District councillor Hugo Ashton has written as follows:
You may well have heard of Jeremy Clarkson’s plans for the Windmill Restaurant above Asthall. We understand his short term plans include expanding the parking in the wood, replacing decking and erecting a marquee with the aim of operating a restaurant, bar and food store. We have concerns over traffic building up and causing problems on the A40 and the B4047, but none of his currently known activities require planning permission, so no conditions can be imposed. If the experience of Chadlington is anything to go by, Burford may well see an influx of traffic (and car parking) from fans who cannot access the Windmill site or don’t wish to queue. Brace yourselves!
