Clarkson's pub opening on Friday

It's reported that Jeremy Clarkson's pub will open for the first time on Friday (23 August).

The pub, formerly the Windmill but now renamed the Farmer's Dog, is next to the roundabout at the western end of the Witney by-pass on the A40. Clarkson has installed a 5,000 square foot marquee on the site.

There are fears that there will be traffic problems if the public response is anything like the one that followed when Clarkson opened his Diddly Squat farm shop. This led to people travelling there from all over the country, fans wanting to take selfies by the sign (even at times when the shop was closed), cars parked all over the place and traffic jams.

Liam Walker, a county councillor, has expressed concern that OCC has not taken steps such as putting yellow lines round the pub and closing the lay-by across the road. He points out that fans may park in the lay-by and then try to cross the busy road on foot.

The Times reports that "the inhabitants of the nearest village, Asthall Leigh [surely they mean Asthall - Ed] have so far given Clarkson's big plans the benefit of the doubt, while raising concerns about traffic."

The B4047 road towards Minster Lovell is due to reopen on Friday after work to provide better paths and bus stops.

The Big Feastival is taking place from 23 to 25 August at Alex James's farm near Kingham and will also attract a lot of traffic.
