The Eynsham park-and-ride was completed earlier this year – but has yet to be connected to
the A40 that runs alongside it. The 850-space car park was built at a cost of £51m. Due to
road infrastructure upgrades needed to connect the park-and-ride to the A40, it’s been
reported that this facility will not be operational until 2027.
Now a solution to this problem has been put forward. But there is a catch. It would depend on planning permission to be granted for the construction of 1,000 new homes nearby.
Local developer, Jansons Property and a consortium of developers, are seeking to deliver
“badly needed homes for local people”. ,
Andy Jansons, managing director of Jansons Properties says: “We believe a solution
is at hand. The land adjacent to the car park has been allocated in the West Oxfordshire
local plan for up to 1,000 new homes. This means that a lot of infrastructure such as this
road could be delivered as part of permission for the houses to connect the park and ride to
the A40.”
Let’s wait and see if tis gets anywhere with our planners.
