A potentially serious fire was extinguished in a field near Burford today (Wednesday). The landowner described it as follows:
"The dry field self combusted. All happened rather quickly and pretty hairy when the wind started changing direction toward the house. Luckily various local farmers arrived with a water bowser and then 3 fire engines came to stop things getting worse. (They’d been up since 4am putting other fires out) I helped bash it out too wearing just flip flops and shorts!"
