Work will begin soon on new slip roads at the Shores Green junction on the A40 to the east of Witney.
At the moment traffic from the east side of Witney can get onto the A40 at that junction to travel eastwards towards Oxford. Traffic going west cannot get onto the A40 there but the new slip roads will give it access, saving drivers from having to go through the busy centre of Witney to the main Witney junction.
From Monday there will be a 50mph speed limit on the stretch of road affected and one lane in each direction will be closed. This will continue until the project is completed. This is due to be by mid-2026. Let's hope the timetable is more accurate than that for the Botley Road railway bridge in Oxford. That was originally due to be completed last autumn but is now also supposed to finish in 2026.
