Potenza Picena is in the Marche region of Italy and has been twinned with Burford since 2001.  Potenza Picena is a small, beautiful medieval hilltop town and part of the Potenza Picena commune which also includes the coastal resort of Porto Potenza Picena and the villages of Montecanepino and San Girio.

Near Montecanepino is the Villa Buenocorsi which dates back to the 18th century.  The charming garden has five terraces on the hillside crossed by laurel hedges, fishponds and geometric flowerbeds.

Other nearby towns include Recanati, the home of the tenor Gigli and the writer/poet Leopardi.
